  • Why no Android? When will it come?

    We’re sorry to disappoint you, but Golfboy is not currently available on Android, and there is no scheduled timeline for support.

    The reason Android is not supported is that Golfboy focuses on a single platform (iOS) in order to speed up the cycle of new feature development and improvements while maintaining consistent quality. There are still many new features planned, and until those are completed, we will continue to prioritize iOS development.Please understand that this decision is due to our development process.

  • Can lefties use it?

    Golfboy can also be used by left-handed players.

    Open the settings screen and select Righty if you are right-handed, or Lefty if you are left-handed.

  • Why is the camera so dark?

    Golfboy uses special camera settings for measurement, which makes the image darker than a normal camera.

    If the camera on the measurement screen appears completely black even in Night Mode (moon icon), it may be due to insufficient indoor lighting. To check, point the camera toward a bright light source. If no light appears on the screen, the camera may have crashed. In that case, please restart your iPhone.Regarding solutions, please note that this cannot be adjusted within the app settings. Golfboy uses a special camera configuration (very high shutter speed) to track golf balls, which results in a darker image compared to a normal camera. Therefore, the only solution is to improve the lighting in your environment. For example, you can set up a simple LED light on a tripod and point it downward, such as this option available on Amazon:

• Measurement

  • The measured value doesn’t match. What’s wrong?

    There are many possible reasons why the measured values may not match.

    We have tested against professional measuring devices, and with the correct setup and optimal environment, accuracy can be within about ±5%. The YouTube video below shows a perfect setup—please refer to it for installation and setup tips:

    Common causes include:

    - Ball customization not set properly.

    Do not use the default value—please fine-tune (often between 1.0–1.1 depending on setup and ball).For advanced users, formula customization is also possible from the ball customization screen.

    - Tripod height (ground to iPhone) does not match the height setting in the app.

    - Not extending the first section of the dedicated tripod, causing height mismatch.

    - Dust or sand blowing in outdoor use, which may cause errors.

    - Using balls other than white or yellow.

    Detection is optimized for white, yellow is second best. Other colors may be unstable.

    - Tripod tilt is too strong, leading to correction errors.(User Guide)

    - Shadows from tripod or people in outdoor use.

    - Floor mat is white or patterned, which may cause misdetection.

    If the issue persists, it may be related to your environment. Please send photos showing the entire hitting area and your setup.

  • The camera screen flickers between dark and bright, preventing stable ball detection.

    The issue you described is caused by flickering.

    Golfboy uses the iPhone’s high-speed camera, and interference from certain lighting frequencies can cause the image to alternate between bright and dark. This is a common issue with golf devices that rely on image recognition, which is why the lighting environment is so important. At present, there is no way to resolve this from within the app itself.

    The best solution is to change the lighting. Flicker-free LED lights are relatively easy to find online,and we recommend using those for the most reliable improvement.If changing the lighting is not possible, the only alternative is to use the app outdoors.You may need to move to a different space, such as a yard.

  • Can I use it with foam balls?

    Yes, Golfboy can be used with foam balls.

    Many users use foam balls indoors or in similar environments.Setup and usage are the same as with regular balls.Golfboy also has a ball customization feature, which allows you to adjust foam balls to behave like course balls. In many cases, the customization factor is around 1.1 to 1.3. Since the softness varies depending on the material and construction, you will need to adjust the distance settings according to the type of foam ball you use.
